In principle, sperm are sensitive to changes in pH. An alkaline environment stimulates sperm motility, an acidic pH value inhibits the sperm’s motility. The ideal pH value for the ascent of the sperm and their survival time is pH 7.0 – 7.8. This corresponds to the pH value of the seminal fluid. At a pH value below 6.5, the sperm motility decreases sharply. DeflaGyn® vaginal gel has an acidic pH value of 3 due to the citric acid it contains. If you wish to have children, it is therefore recommended that you pause the use of DeflaGyn® vaginal gel on the fertile days around ovulation and only continue it afterwards.
